After getting the go ahead from my rheumy team and orthopaedic surgeon, and confirmation from the organisers I've now set up the JustGiving Page for..

Abseil for NRAS
at Fort Dunlop - Birmingham
July 18th 2010 at 14.00

I'm a bit nervous but excited at the same time, it would be great if a place came up on the Kings College abseil too.

Donations can be made at the following site.

http://www.justgiving.com/Joanne-Connors

I won't pretend I'm doing an SAS type raid on my neighbours while I'm doing it honest!! ;)

Thanks for all your support on this :D

We're going down to support Jo. Anyone else coming? If so, maybe we could meet for lunch before hand?

Hi Jean

I was wondering about coming down perhaps on the Saturday and staying over. Not sure yet though as dates a bit difficult. Definitely hope to be there on the Sunday though to cheer Jo on with her fantastic effort.

A few people have said they will try to come along so would be good to meet up.

Aww that's fabulous :)

The more the merrier and despite some requests I will NOT be doing the abseil dressed as SpiderGirl!

If there are any webslinging walrus characters though I might get away with that Razz

Jo.

EDIT: Wondering if this is the same event, as abseiling gorilla's in the capital would make for some great pics!

Jo - have you managed to have a look for any hotels in the area? Doesn't matter if you haven't had time - I'll do some research.
Lots of love

Hiya Jean

Just outside the Birmingham area is Bromsgrove.

There's quite a few out at Bromsgrove, which is near both the M5 and M42 and is far enough outside Birmingham to avoid traffic, the journey to Fort Dunlop would be about 35-40 minutes using the motorways.

Hope this helps Jean

HUGS

Eeeek!! I come back from the forest to find there's now only a week until my first abseil in London!

Just waiting on the final details from Val, a few friends in London (about 5 miles from the hospital) are going to let me stay there a few days beforehand so I'm not dashing about at the last minute.

Thanks for all your support, and I'll post any pictures and video I take :)

Hi Folks just an update on my London Abseil this Sunday July 4th

I now have the details for the event from Val at NRAS and I have to be at Kings College Hospital for 10.15!! Blink (so that limits my beer intake the night before)

For the Kings College Hospital London abseil. Find your way to Coldharbour Lane, turning into Caldecot Road. The Golden Jubilee building is located directly along this road. The abseil will be taking place down the left hand side of the building.

Spectators can view the abseilers from the car park in front of the building.

Not sure what time I'll be sacrificed sorry abseiling though.

Thanks for all your support ThumpUp

Jo.
